The coming 2017 assembly election to Charkhari will witness a triangular contest among the BSP, BJP and BSP. The BJP candidate from the Ballia Lok Sabha constituency, Bharat Singh, had established a lead of 2736 votes over his nearest SP rival Neeraj Shekhar in the Charkhari assembly segment in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
